We`re happy little vegemites off to Korea in September, yay, yay, yay
after what will be about 16/17 odd days straight with 10 hour days little schmoo and her trustworthy sidekick tigger will kick back on the shores of Korea in 12 days (and counting).
Our trusty pair have experienced the adventure of the traditional HITA often called `mini Kyoto` (Tourist capital of Japan). Where of course they went shopping in pottery stores and a pottery village with only 19 houses, and bought some gorgeous goblets, then the sake museum for essential taste testing. A lookout, a river walk, a shrine or two, some traditional Japanese food and very foot sore our travelling pair dragged our enthusiatic guide (Yoko) to a halt near the train station, many thousand yen lighter and many shopping bags heavier.
It was a grand day had by all.
To top the weekend off was a quick trip to Oita city on Wednesday (wkend is Tues & Wed 4 me), the Paul drove me out to Shonai where we went for a tradionalish lunch of deep friend chicken (and miso and rice etc), then a pleasant country drive to the local onsen near where Paul used to work.
After I overcame my onsen fear (I was the only one there in the girl`s section), we strolled along the river nearby, checking it all out.
We then sat down in the shade to play a game of `go` a Japanese strategy game that is both best and worst described as `similar to chess but not really, with more and smaller pieces that can move anywhere`.
I lost... again (it was my second game).
Then I watched a KENDO lesson before heading out on the town with Paul and Erin for a Mexican meal. Yay Mexican, foreign food, yay.
Later I played a game of `go` against Erin and lost... again but not so badly this time. I am improving, I hope.
anyway that was the last whole weekend for a bit until Korea but it`s cool to look forward to.
Well guys, my octapus balls are all eaten up (I mean I simply cant remain here without the octopus balls!), my hot chocolate and green tea combo all but finished and its after 10pm so little schmoo is off to bed I believe. After 10 hours at work today and a cocktail party last night I figure I could use the sleep.
I`m not actually sure what my apartment looks like anymore....
later guys
Love little schmoo
