MATSUYAMA HOLIDAY HERE I COME `ey
Actually it was a drizzle early morning when our illustrious captainschmoo and commandertigger wandered, coffee in hand to the bus stop. But drizzle couldn`t slow the tides of change blossoming in the air, the travelling duo were off on a holiday.
They made their way secretively to the ferry port (finally finishing their coffee in the bus), where they took themselves into the smallest room ever with a godbillion tatami mats in it. talk about packing people in like sardines.
So using all of their early morning hangover grouch our pair secured themselves wide berth...
actually the ship was largely deserted, there were only two others in the room with our pair.
as it turned out one young lass could speak English quite well while the other older lady spoke a little.
Fun and frolics for the next 3 and a half hours as the trio discussed all the taboo topics and traveller`s advice in random JapLish.
Anyway upon arriving in Matsuyama port our captain and her miniture crew were offered a lift to the city centre by the young woman (Junko) which we graciosly accepted.
once in the city centre our pair were all business, information, accomadation and food.
All easily sorted with minimal fuss.
As the afternoon was absolutely miserable our pair decided to visit the shopping centres for recreation while on shore leave.
Large amounts of money changed hands (unidirectional though unfortunately) before our young one headed back to the hotel to change into something dry and warm.
The Captain had a formal dinner with Junko and some locals after which followed an amount of riotous activity which I will not disclose but did leave me with a pulled groin muscle.... its a long story but I`d prefer you dont get any ideas!!!!
Anyway I woke early and dragged my sorry butt to the complimentary breakfast before starting out early on the tourist trek. There was minor drizzle but not enough to slow us down (Tigger was still fast asleep in my bag, unaccustomed to the early hour.
We checked out Dogo park, the tourist tram, shrine 56 on the Buddha hike (worth it), dogo onsen, dogo shopping arcade, Matsuyama castle (worth it too) and a cute little luncheon cafe for a late afternoon . After a much neede afternoon nap and change of clothes met up with fellows from the night before, for a quiet (actually quieter would be better) one before sleep.
Up before dawn`s crack Little tigger dragged his sorry butt to the train station and we navigated ourselves back to the ferry terminal.
There was photo taking and excitement, book reading and napping until now when we are happily sitting at the internet cafe.
until next time, these are the adventures of the starship
